    No flaws in the Quran

Many websites spread many claimed flaws in the Quran, the refuting of such objections are in the books of the late interpreter of the QUran and the Bible, Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly , may God's mercy be on his soul

I will answer these objections according to the late interpreter

These are the points of objection published by some rancorous people on the Wikipedia

Setting and Rising Place of the Sun

Main Article: Dhul-Qarnayn and the Sun Setting in a Muddy Spring
The Qur'an assumes a flat earth which has physical places into which the sun sets and rises from. Since the earth is a rotating sphere, the sun does not set in any particular place and you can never travel to "the spot" where the sun sets nor a place where it rises; the sun appears to set or rise on the horizon no matter where you are on the planet. In these verses, the author propagates a popular legend from the 7th century of a man named Dhu'l-Qarnayn who visits the places where the sun sets and rises; here he finds the sun going down into a muddy spring and later rising on a tribe with no coverings
Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said: O Dhu'l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.
8; 86 Qur'an Till, when he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter therefrom
    Qur'an 1 8: 90
Some Muslim Apologists have come up with creative interpretations of these verses to say that Dhu'l-Qrnayn only traveled until he reached "the west" or to a spot "at the time" when the sun set and not the "place" where the sun set. Unfortunately, these alternative interpretations are severely undermined by the context and Arabic wordsused in these verses, which instead point to a physical location. Again, we must ask why an all-knowing being would use such misleading verses that mimic the misconceptions and legends prevalent at the time if one of these alternative explanations is correct.

The Answer is in the following link
The Universe and the Quran 3

Question 42: What is meant by His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 18: 86, which means

(Until when he reached at sun-set [time], he found it setting under the observation of a black woman, and he found with her a people)
?- (We said, “O Zul-qarnain, you have either to punish or to show them kindness)

Answer: When Alexander of Macedon reached the West, i.e. to Abyssinia, he found the citizens of that country worshipping the sun, so that they gathered outside the city at the time of sun-set, looked to the sun and sung their religious songs, and when it was about to set down and disappear from sight behind the horizon, they would kneel down and adore the sun, all of them. They had a black queen in front of them, who led them in prayer, and they imitated her prayer to the sun

    The interpretation
(Until when he) i.e. Alexander (reached)
(at sun-set [time] ) means: He arrived, at that place, at the time of sun-set
(he found it setting under the observation of a black woman) means: He found a black woman watching the sun, while it was setting. That woman was a queen; and her people were assembling with her

The meaning: Alexander found a people worshipping the sun at its setting; they had a queen leading them in prayer to the sun; she was adoring and kneeling down to the sun; so that her people were imitating her, and doing the same as was their queen doing

In Arabic, the word عين was misinterpreted as the ‘water-spring’; while, actually, it means the ‘watching and observation’; as is it mentioned in many instances in the Quran and in the Arab poetry
    Examples

    (1)
God - be exalted - said in the Quran 11: 37, which means

(But build the Ark under Our observation and as We instruct you by revelation)

    (2)
God – be highly exalted - said in the Quran, 54:14, which means

(Which ran [upon the water,] in Our sight, as a reward for him that was rejected ) i.e. under Our watching and observation

    (3)
God - be exalted – said also in the Quran, 52: 48, which means

(So forbear patiently to the commandment of your Lord: for surely you [Mohammed] are under Our observation. And celebrate the praises of your Lord, when you rise up [from sleep )

His saying -be exalted - (for surely you [Mohammed] are under Our observation.) means: under Our observation and watching

[Now we continue the interpretation of the Quranic revelation 18: 87-88]
(and he found with her a people.) means: Alexander found, with the black woman, a people doing exactly as was she doing, and imitating her in her worship
(We said, “O Zul-qarnain); this is the surname or the title of Alexander
(you have either to punish) these people who are worshipping the sun, if they do not believe in God and resign or submit themselves to Him
(or to show them kindness) if they believe and obey Our order

Here, the عين in Arabic means the watching, and it does not mean a water-spring. The proof of this lies in His saying -be exalted - in the Quran 18: 91, which means
(Until when he reached at sun-rising [time], he found it rise upon a people for whom We made no shelter therefrom)

So, if the عين meant a water-spring, then God – be glorified – would say: ‘he found it rise from a water-spring!’ But the meaning is: He found it set down for a people having such a description; and rise upon a people having such a description

Therefore, God - be exalted – meant by that to describe the people, and not to describe the sun

[This also is the meaning of the word in the Arab poetry, some of which is mentioned by the late Mohammed-Ali Hassan, the interpreter of the Quran and the Bible, in his Arabic book]

    Geocentricism

The Qur'an mentions numerous times that the sun and the moon travel in an orbit, but does not mention once that the earth does too. This is consistent with a earth-centered (geocentric) view of the cosmos that places a motionless earth at the center of the universe and all "heavenly bodies" travel around the earth

    Answer
So you admit that the Quran did not say the earth is the center of the universe, but you on the other hand assert that it claims the earth is the
    centre of the universe

Anyhow, in fact the Quran did not say that the earth is the center of the universe, but it was the church that adopted the Ptolemy's theories which claimed the earth is the center of the universe and that the sun, moon and stars circle around it. And such adoption by the church of the theory of Ptolemy that was the fatal mistake; because God did not say that, but Ptolemy said it; and here you try to apply it to the Quran which never said this
What a deduction! So if the Quran does not mention the earth travels in an orbit, it means: it states that the earth does not move in an orbit
If God tells people: the earth travels in an orbit around the sun, will they believe? For without mentioning this, and people denied, so if he tells them that what they say
To this meaning, Jesus Christ said: If I tell you now many things you will not understand, but when the Paraclete will come, he will tell you
So what God told them about the astronomical events and facts, all that in order that they would glorify God and believe
So most of such observations and facts, He mentioned to them in an allegorical way, so that in the future they are going to understand
Moreover, a large number of the Quran ayat speak about the universe, more than all the other heavenly books, because the Quran is the last heavenly book which precedes Doomsday

So here is the interpretation, by Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly, of the ayat to which they object
    Qur'an 36:37-38
    37
And a sign for them [indicating Our might] is the night [darkness] from which We withdraw the day [: the sun light g] and they will then be in darkness
    38
And the sun –– it runs to a fixed resting-place h; such [perfection] is the ordaining of the All- Mighty, the All-Knowing
    ………………………………………………………………..
g To become night, because of the rotation of the earth around its axis
h Hassan, the son of Abbas, Ali the son of Hussein, Abu Jafa the Baqir, Jafa the Sadiq, Iqrima, the son of Masuod and Ata: all these read (And the sun –– it runs without resting); which means
The sun keeps up moving around itself without any rest from its movement; i.e. it will not stop moving even though it will explode, because then it will be planets following its explosion and tearing up; such planets will rotate around themselves and around the new sun, and such planets will not have any rest from movement even though their Doomsday comes and they will tear up, because then they will be meteorites which will not have any rest because they rotate around the new planets, until they will tear up and become scattered dust
On the other hand if we consider the apparent meaning of the aya: (And the sun –– it runs to a fixed resting-place); the meaning will then be
The sun circles around a fixed star which is much bigger than it and which attracts it with its gravity; so that the sun moves and that star is its resting-place. Astronomers believe that the sun and its planets circle around a fixed star much bigger than it, which is situated in the Pleiades, and it completes its circle around it in thirty years
    ================================================== ====

    Qur'an 36:40
    40
It is not for the sun to overtake the moon k, neither does the night outstrip the day l ; but each [of the sun, the moon and the earth with its night and day] is swimming along into a [specific] orbit. m
    ……………………………………………………………..
k It means: In spite of the extent of the sun and its powerful gravity and heat, and in spite of that the moon is small and without internal heat and being a gravitated object; in spite of all this, the sun cannot draw the moon to it; that is because the moon is far from the sun and near to the earth. This is as such only according to Our wisdom and estimation
l So as to hide it from sight, but the night is followed by the day, in spite of that the entire space is dark and all of it is night; so the day accompanies the night and does not leave it
m Therefore, the sun swims or floats in the space and circles around the fixed star which gravitates it, the moon swims in the space and circles around the earth, and the earth swims in the space and spins around its axis so that the night and day will form from its spinning, and it circles around the sun and so the four seasons will form
So blessed be God the Lord of the worlds, the Creator of suns and moons and the Maker of the night and day, as a mercy to the worlds and a bounty to the grateful
    ========================================
    Qur'an 91:1-2
    1
I swear for the future] by the sun and the severe heat of its noon-time a
    2
And by the moon when it will follow the [sun!] b
    ………………………………………………………………….
a When the sun is in the middle of the sky at noon time
The meaning: I swear by that long day in which the sun will shine and will not set afterwards, but will remain for one thousand years searing the earth with its heat, and evaporating the sea water and burn the trees and kills the living animals and cattle
So there will not remain for you any food to eat or water to drink other than only the bitter and salt well water
Then who will save you from the chastisement of that day and from its heat? It is the day when the earth will stop its axial rotation
b Similar to this is His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 75: 9, which means
And the sun and moon are joined together
The reason for this is that the moon is gravitated by the earth, and it circles around it; the reason for the gravity is the heat which is in the core of the earth; so when this heat will finish by the passing of years, the earth gravity will also finish, and so [the influence of] the sun gravity on the moon will increase, and it will draw the moon towards itself and the moon will unite with it
Anyhow, the interpreter Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly said: I have fully explained about this topic in my book The Universe and the Quran
    =============================================

    Qur'an 21:33
    33. And it is He Who created the night and the day h, and the sun and the moon i. Each [of the planets and their satellites] is swimming [in the space] in an orbit j
    …………………………………………………………………….
h Because of the spinning of the earth around itself
i For heat, light and other advantages
j i.e. each one of these objects circles in its orbit: the planets circle around the sun, the moons circle around the planets, and the sun spins round itself from right to left; so all of them is in continuous movement. The ‘orbit’ means the circle in which the object moves a complete circle
    ================================================
    Qur'an 31:29
The reason for revealing the following aya
When the Muslims saw that victory against the associaters was delayed for them in the beginning, His saying – be glorified – was revealed
    29
Have you [Mohammed] not seen how God causes the night to pass into the day, and causes the day to pass into the night a, and has subjected the sun b and the moon c; each moving [in its orbit] to an appointed term d; and that God is All-Aware of what you [Muslims] do? e
    ……………………………………………………………………………………..
The interpretation is by Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly
a i.e. each one of them is introduced into the other, because of the earth spinning around its axis
The meaning: Don’t hasten, Mohammed, about victory; for days and months will pass and victory will shortly come
This is confirmed by His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 2: 214, which means
(So that the messenger [of God] and those who believed with him said: 'When will the help of God come
[The messenger would answer them:] 'Surely, the help of God is approaching
b For the day light and forother advantages
c To give light by night, and for counting days and months
d It means: Till a stated time in which their lives will end and their movements will sto in any aya, but you give misinterpretation to assert this

.Stars are Missiles Shot at Devils

In fact this is twisting of the word from its context. Because the Quran did not say: the stars, but it said: the meteors, which we see flashing in the dark night
So this is about such meteors which flash quickly by night. In Arabic الشهب in plural; its singular is الشهاب

    Moon Emits Light

On the contrary, there isn't any aya in the Quran which says that the moon emits light, but it rather implies that it reflects the light; so the expression is ضياء about the sun light, while the moon light the expression is used نور

This is in the Quran 10: 5, which means
    { It is He [: God] Who made the sun: [light-] emitting a and the moon: light [-reflecting] b and decreed for her phases [of the moon] c }
that you [people] may know d the counting of years and the calculation [of months and days.] e
    ----------------------------------------------------------
a i.e. a source of light and heat, and because of its light the day will issue
b i.e. the moon acquires the light from the sun, so it will shine for you with light by night
c During which it shifts during its course around the earth, and it completes its circling around the earth once in a month
d By means of such phases decreed for Moon and its circling around the earth
e The reason that God – be glorified – said about the moon that He decreed for it the phases, and did not say about the sun that He decreed for it some phases; because the sun is stationary and does not circle around the earth, but it is the earth that circles around it

    Moon was Split in Two

The aya speaks about the separation or splitting of the Moon from its mother earth, and it also will be a sign of the approach of Doomsday; i.e. such event will take place before Doomsday
The Universe and the Quran 4

" God - be glorified - said in the Quran 54: 1-2, which means

{(The hour [of their death] has become imminent, and the moon split [and detached from the earth in the past, and will split into two halves in the future, just before Doomsday]

(Yet if they see a sign, they will turn away, and keep up saying, ‘ [the Quran is] a magic’)

The reason for revealing this aya of the Quran, was that Quraish, the tribe of Prophet Mohammed - Peace be on him – laughed and mocked at Mohammed and said to him: “If, really, you are a prophet, then cleave the moon apart into two halves. Only in case you do that we shall believe you!” Therefore, this aya of the Quran was revealed; its interpretation is

( The hour [of their death] has become imminent) means: the hour of their death has approached and become very near; and We shall punish them for their stubbornness and mocking

( and the moon split [and detached from the earth in the past, and will split into two halves in the future, just before Doomsday.] ) means: the moon had cleft and parted from the Earth in the past, i.e. detached from it, and it will also cleave when Doomsday is nearby

(Yet if they see a sign, they will turn away, and keep up saying, ‘ [the Quran is] a magic!’) means: If We show them, nowadays, one of Our manifest signs [or miracles] like the cleavage of the moon, or the other signs which they have demanded, and they see it with their own eyes, then after all, they will not believe in you, Mohammed, because of their stubbornness, but on the contrary, they will go astray, away from you, and will say: it [: the Quran] is merely a magic, and will go on saying that the Quran is a magic

Sun, Moon and Stars Created for Humans

The sun, moon and stars are much older than humans. But the Qur'an states their created purpose is for timekeeping and navigation

    Answer
Why do you object that God created Sun and Moon for benefit of humans; although Sun and Moon are older than humans; but He created them and
prepared them for their benefit before He created man; just like He created the breast of woman before He created the baby

    Night is a Veil
Night is just the darkness of space as seen from the earth due its rotation

    Answer
So you take this great aya of the Quran and give it a wrong interpretation
    Quran 7: 54, which means
"[God – be glorified – argued against the associaters or idolaters with His creation, so He said]

    7: 54
Certainly, your Lord is God Who created the heavens and the earth a in six days b, then sat Himself upon the throne c
He covers the day with the night d; the [night] pursues the [day] incessantly e – and the sun and the moon and the stars are subjected to His bidding f
Certainly, the creation is His g, as is [His] the 'authority and command'h. So, blessed be God i, the Lord of the worlds

    .................................................. ...................
a i.e. the planets including the earth
Then He explained about the period of time in which He created these objects
b Of the Hereafter; each day equals one thousand of our years. The indication of that is His saying – be glorified in the Quran 22: 47, which means
(For a day with your Lord is as [long as] one thousand of your years)
c However, in my book The Universe and the Quran I have fully explained about the Throne and the heavens
d i.e. the night covers and veils the day with its darkness
e i.e. it circles around it quickly and pursues it; that is because darkness is general in the space, and light is only from the sun, without which there cannot be any day; and therefore, God – be glorified – said that the [night] pursues the [day] incessantly; i.e. the day moves after and pursues the day wherever it goes
f i.e. they move along in their orbits, according to His decree and management
g While anyone else hasn't anything of that; it means: He is the Creator of the creation; none of His creatures shared with Him, neither did anyone help Him in forming all that; but He originated them according to His knowledge, created them with His might and formed them with His management
h In preserving, moving or destroying all that; He does whatever He pleases, none may object to Him
i i.e. God increased His creatures in the universe. The ‘blessing’ means the increase. And this in fact is a description of His acts not of His own self
The indication of this is His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 50: 9, which means
(And We sent down from the sky [rain] water as a blessing)
Which means: it increases the plant

    Seven Planets in the Universe
This verse claims there are seven planets. However, according to astronomers, there are eight ordinary planets and five dwarf planets, which leaves the grand total at thirteen in our solar system. Modern astronomy also has found hundreds of other planets in other solar systems and Cosmologists estimate that hundreds of billions of stars and planets exist in the universe. The author of the Qur'an singling out such a small number of celestial objects only reaffirms his ignorance of the makeup of the universe.
(Allah is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number. Through the midst of them (all) descends His Command: that ye may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah comprehends, all things in (His) Knowledge.)
    Qur'an 65:12

    The answer
    Qur'an 65:12

[ God [is He] Who had created seven [ethereal] heavens [in the ancient time] a, and [He then created, out] of the earth the equal [number of gaseous heavens b
the am'r c [: the angels] frequently coming down throughout them [bringing the revelation to the prophets and apostles]
in order that you should know God is Most Able over all things, and God is Comprehending everything in His knowledge
    .................................................. .........................
a i.e. spiritual heavens which are the habitation of angels, prophets, martyrs and the pious.http://www.quran-ayat.com/universe/i...hereal_Heavens
b The gaseous heavens The Universe and the Quran have been explained in my book The Universe and the Quran.(The Universe and the Quran
c The word (am'r) implies the spiritual creatures. The meaning: The angels come down from between such heavens, bringing the revelation to the prophets and messengers [or apostles
Moreover, I have explained fully about the word am'r in my book: Man after Death Quran and Man after Death

The interpretation is according to Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly
So it is only their misinterpretation: because such ayat the Mutashabihat; none claims he knows their implication, but only God That knows it
In fact, the planets are nine in number including the planet of the Asteroids between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, and excluding Pluto which is not a planet but a moon of Neptune

Stars are Located in the Nearest Heaven
Stars are spread throughout the Universe and there is no such thing as the "nearest" heaven or layer. Also, this verse is in keeping with the author's claim (Quran 71:15 as described above) that the seven heavens are arranged one above the other.

Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars
    Qur'an 37:6

    The answer
    Quran 37:6
{We have adorned the nearest heaven [to your earth] with [meteors, like] the adornment of the [other] planets a
    .................................................. .....................
a i.e. as have We adorned the sky of the other planets with the meteors

The indication of this is His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 67: 5, which means
(And We adorned the nearest firmament [to your earth] with [meteors which flash at night like] lamps, and made these [meteors] to stone devils)

So the ays is one of the Mutashabihat, and they did not know its interpretation, so they misinterpreted as they desired
And they did not know which heaven is the nearest, and did not know that it is the lowest gaseous heaven that is above our earth, which is a high atmospheric layer, called the mesosphere; and in that layer the meteors flash every now and then

The Universe and the Quran 2

The interpretation is according to the late inspired interpreter of the Quran and the Bible: Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly

    Earth Created in Six Days
The earth first formed around 9 billion years after the Big Bang. The Qur'an, however, repeats the prevailing middle eastern myth that the earth and universe were formed in six days

We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us
    Qur'an 50:38

    Answer

The word heaven or sky in Arabic means: anything above you, so that the ceiling of the room is called its sky
Moreover, the word heaven comes in singular in the Quran, and it comes also in plural; and all these have particular meaning when the heavens are mentioned together with the earth, or alone without mentioning the earth, and when the heavens are mentioned before mentioning the earth or after mentioning the earth, and if the heavens are joined with the earth with just the word 'and' or there are many words intervening between them
So to every one of such conditions, there is a particular meaning

And when (the heavens and the earth) are mentioned as such and only the word (and) joining between the (heavens) and the (earth) --> it means the heavens that are of the same kind as the earth, which means: the planets including the earth

    Answer
    Qur'an 50:38
We created the heavens and the earth a, and all [moons, meteorites and meteors] that are between them in six days b, and no fatigue touched Us. c
    .................................................. ...............
a i.e. the planets including the earth
b i.e. in six thousands of our years

It means: God created the earth and the planets and all moons and meteorites ... etc. between them in six thousands of our years; because one day of the Hereafter equals one thousand years
The creation here is the transformation from one condition to another, which means: He transformed that initial sun into an earth with a cold crust in 2000 years, then it increased in coldness and thickness of its crust and the mountains fell on it and the gaseous layers of the atmosphere all that was formed in 4000 years, so the total is 6000 years, which is the period during which it was transformed from a sun into an earth

God –be exalted –said also in the Quran 41: 9-12
    The explanation
[O Mohammed] say [to the idolaters]: “Do you, then, disbelieve in [God] Who created the earth in two days, and do you ascribe to Him opponents? –That is the Lord of [all] the worlds

“And He made [mountains] that landed upon it, blessed it, and apportioned therein its sustenance in four days; alike for those who ask [provision”
“Then He tended to [build]* the sky and it had been smoke; He said to it and to the earth, ‘Come, both of you, willingly or loath.’ The two said, ‘We [all] have come obedient
“And He separated them into seven firmaments in two days …etc” )
[*i.e. to make the layers of the gaseous sky distinctive, and to build or to arrange it in successive layers.]

    The interpretation
-- (created the earth in two days) means: in two thousand years; for one day of God’s days equals one thousand of our years, according to our days

as is it mentioned in the Psalms 89: 3-4, A prayer of Moses
“3… saying, “Return to dust, O sons of men”
4 For a thousand years in your sight are like a day ”

The ‘creation’ is the transformation from one thing [or form] to another; therefore, (Who created the earth in two days) means: He transformed it into an earth after being a sun, and that lasted a period of two thousand years; this is the time during which the surface of that sun became cold, that sun whose life had ended

-- (and He made [mountains] that landed upon it); that which heavily landed upon the earth, are the mountains. This can be explained as follows:
That sun had been transformed into an earth after the cooling of its surface, then the meteorites started to fall down on it to become the mountains. Therefore, most of the mountains on the earth surface were originally meteorites.

-- (and blessed it) means: He increased its size, and that was by many factors

First: The crust of the earth started gradually to be more and more cold; so this increased its thickness

Second: The falling down of meteorites upon it increased its mass and volume

Third: The falling down of minute particles upon it (these are the fine particles that we see in a beam of sun rays entering a dark room through a window.) The origin of these particles are from meteorites which were broken up after their Doomsday, so that their parts scattered in the space

Fourth: The metals increased its volume and size by combination with other elements, e.g. the oxygen may combine with iron, so it will increase in its volume, and ferric oxide will result; and carbon dioxide combines with calcium forming calcium carbonate; and nitrogen combines with sodium and potassium resulting in sodium nitrate and potassium nitrate; and so on gases combine with most of the metals so increasing their volume, and by this way the Earth size goes on increasing with the passing of time and years.

(and apportioned therein its sustenance) means: He made the fall of rain upon it, and created the plant, trees and animals; to be as sustenance and provision for man; in other words: He apportioned these things as sustenance for man when He would create him on Earth; because He –be exalted –had created these things and prepared them for man before did He create man upon it, exactly just as had He created the breast of the woman before did He create the fetus in her womb

(in four days) means: He created all these things during a period of four thousand years; so the total is six thousand years; because the cooling of the Earth lasted two thousand years, as He said –be exalted –in the Quran 32: 4
    The explanation
(It is God Who created the heavens and the earth and that which is between them in six [of the] days [of the Hereafter.] Then He mounted the throne

‘The 'heavens and the earth’ means the planets

    Earth Created before Stars

The author of the Qur'an is also unaware that the elements in the Earth's crust and core were first formed in stars. Modern science has proposed that all the elements that make up the earth (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon, Iron, etc.) was originally formed by nucleosynthesis in stars and then expelled into the universe when those stars supernova. Yet the Qur'an describes the earth being formed before the stars and from "smoke" or material that pre-dates stars. All rocky and gaseous planets in the universe were formed in a similar manner to the earth and the Qur'an singling out the earth only further highlights the authors ignorance of the history of the formation of celestial objects.

(He it is Who created for you all that is in the earth. Then turned He to the heaven, and fashioned it as seven heavens. And He is knower of all things.) Qur'an 2:29

    Answer
Here they took part of the aya, and misinterpreted it; this is like one who says: No god but God alone without associate or equal
But he says part of this sentence: No god; of course it will be disbelief and blasphemy, unless he completes it
No god but God alone without associate or equal

So now, this is the entire aya as a whole not only part of it
    Qur'an 2:29, which means
He [: God] it is Who has created for you all [the mountains, rivers, plants and cattle] that are in the earth, then aimed at [building] the sky and fashioned them as seven heavens, and He is the All-Knowing about everything.a
    .................................................. ....................
a This aya has been explained in the book The Universe and the Quran , in the subject of The gaseous heavens
    The Universe and the Quran

So the 'sky' or 'heaven' here means: the gaseous layers of the atmosphere, and of course it is created after creating the earth (and therefore, the earth has been mentioned before the heaven in the aya), because the gases of the atmosphere issued from the earth then by time of 2000 years they separated into distinct seven layers of the stratosphere, above the region of the cloud. while below the cloud, the troposphere where the wind exists and so its gases are mixture and not separated in distinct layers
See the link above for more explanation

NB, they said, out of their distorting the truth: "Earth Created before Stars", while no mention of any "stars" in the aya

Earth and Heavens were Ripped Apart

Some apologists claim that the following verse is compatible with the Big Bang theory. But according to this theory, the Universe was formed about 13.8 billion years ago due to a rapid expansion from singularity. The earth was formed 4.54 billion years ago from accretion of debris that surrounded the precursor of the Sun. There was no "separation" of the "joined" earth and heavens as this verse suggests. It is, in fact, a repetition of cosmic egg myths in which an egg-like structure was split into two halves, the lower half forming the earth and the upper half forming the heaven.
((Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of creation), before we clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?)) Qur'an 21:30

    Answer
The adversaries of the Quran went to some ayat of the Quran that are Mutashabihat, which even Muslims themselves do not know their implications, and then such adversaries misinterpreted these ambiguous ayat as they like, then deduced that it is a mistake included in the Quran

Therefore, the aya does not speak about the age of the universe, but it tells about the period taken by that previous sun, that had been before our sun, and the period taken by that sun to transforms into an earth; also the earth itself was very hot and it was, together with the rest of the planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, etc, all these planets were one earth, and this earth was a flaming sun just like our present sun
So the previous sun took 2000 years to transfrom from a sun into an earth with a cold crust

The earth included in the solar system took 6000 years to become earth (and planets) suitable to bear life

    Qur'an 21:30
    30
Do not those who disbelieve know that the heavens and the earth [: the planets including the earth] were united [as one planet], then We split them up [into many pieces],
and We made – of water – every living thing [: the plant, animal and man
Will they not then believe? a
    .................................................. .......
a The meaning: The One Who could tear up the earth with its tremendous mass, making it many pieces: isn’t He more Able to tear up their bodies and make them perish?
And the One Who created such big animals, as the elephant and the camel, out of [seminal] fluid drops: isn’t He more Able to restore them? So why do they deny Our might and ability to restore and resurrect bodies after their death
This aya in fact has been interpreted in the book: The Universe and the Quran under the title of: Formation of the planets

1.12.2 Universe was Made from Smoke by Contraction

Neither was there any stage of formation of the Universe that involved smoke (carbon particles suspended as a result of combustion) nor did the earth and heavens "come" together at any point of time. Earth is a part of this Universe and has developed within it.

(Then turned He to the heaven when it was smoke, and said unto it and unto the earth: Come both of you, willingly or loth. They said: We come, obedient. Then He ordained them seven heavens in two Days and inspired in each heaven its mandate; and We decked the nether heaven with lamps, and rendered it inviolable. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Knower.)
    Qur'an 41:11-12

    Answer:
Nothing in the aya is said concerning the universe; but they misinterpreted this ambiguous aya as do they like, so that they considered the (heaven) as the universe.
While as we explained in the previous posts that the heavens when they are mentioned alone, and when the heavens are mentioned together with the earth, when the heavens mentioned before mentioning the earth or after the earth, and when the heaven comes in singular: all these have different meaning.

So here is the explanation of this aya:
    Qur'an 41:11-12
{ 11. Then he tended to [build] the sky [of the earth] and it had been smoke i; He said to the [sky] and to the earth: "Come, both of you [to the gravitation force of the sun], willingly or loath." The two said: "We [all] have come obedient."

    12. And He separated them into seven firmaments j in two days k, and inspired into each firmament its 'amr' [: its race of genies l], and We adorned the nearest firmament [to your earth] with [meteors m to be as] lamps and [for] protection n; such [creation and formation] is the ordaining of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing.}
    .................................................. .......................
i Which is the smoke that emerged from the earth when it was flaming; and that smoke was a mixture of seven gases.
j It means: He separated and divided that smoke until it became seven gaseous layers.
k i.e. in a period of two thousands of the earth years.
l i.e. He inspired to those genies and souls inhabiting these seven firmaments the administration of their affairs and to seek after their provision and livelihood by themselves.
The indication, that these gaseous firmaments are inhabited the creatures of the genie, is His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 23: 17, which means:
(And We have created above you seven [gaseous] layers [for the dwelling of the genie]; and We are not heedless of creatures [neither of genies nor of humans.])
m Which flash by night and light the sky.
n i.e. And We made it as a protection from devils lest they should ascend to the ethereal heavens.

The interpretation is by Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly, the interpreter of the Quran and the Bible.
    The Universe and the Quran
    ================================================== ===

Therefore, the origin of the atmosphere of the earth was from the earth itself, and that is when the earth was very hot in its early formation, gases and smoke emerged from inside it, which filled its atmosphere, then because of the difference in weight of such gases, the light gas raised up and the heavier gases came under the light gases until seven gaseous distinct layers were formed in the region above the cloud, which is the stratosphere, which is the calm part of the atmosphere where there is no wind to mix such gases.
So the atmosphere of the earth in the beginning was smoke which was a mixture of seven gases.

    1.13 The Cause of Shadows
Shadows are produced when the sun's light is blocked by an obstacle. It is the Earth's rotation that causes these shadows to change size and location. However, by calling the sun the guide of shadows, this verse claims shadows are caused due to the sun's movement. A non-living "guide" can have two meanings: a controller of movement or an indicator. Other translations of this verse do call the sun an indicator but this is also unscientific because the sun cannot indicate them.

(Hast thou not turned thy vision to thy Lord?- How He doth prolong the shadow! If He willed, He could make it stationary! then do We make the sun its guide; Then We draw it in towards Ourselves,- a contraction by easy stages.)
    Qur'an 25:45-46

    Answer:
So these atheists and other adversaries of God and His messenger and His Quran; they go to such ambiguous ayat, which even Muslims do not know their exact meaning and implication, then they misinterpret it and take it a pretext to disprove the Quran, as they imagine.

Now, this is the interpretation of this aya according to the inspired interpreter of the Quran and the Bible: Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly:

    Qur'an 25:45-46
{ 45. Haven’t you [man] considered [the acts of] your Lord: how He has kept on the shadow a [of the earth, which is the night, lasting on successive zones of the earth, due to its axial rotation]?
Had He willed, He could have made it stationary [by stopping the earth from its axial rotation a]; then We have made the sun [setting] a sign indicative of the [coming of the night.]

    46. Then We have withdrawn [the shadow: the night] to Us [by the sun-rising on that zone of the earth b], with an easy withdrawal.}
    .................................................. .........................
a So that the shadow will be lasting on one side of the earth, and then those who will be on the day side will perish from the extreme heat; and those on the night side will perish from the extreme coldness.
b So that the shadow disappears from it.

    Sun is a Flat Disk
This verse suggests that the Sun is flat and can be folded up. The Sun appears as a flat disc from the perspective of a person on earth, but the sun is in fact a near-perfect sphere (oblate spheroid). The verse implies the authors ignorance of this fact.

(When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up)
    Qur'an 81:1

AnswerThis is an obvious example of the lies of the atheist, because in one of the atheists book of Dawkins, he listed flaws as he called them in the Torah (the Bible of Jews) and in the Gospel and in the Quran, as he claimed, of course he took them from some Christians and Jews: rancorous, who saw the Islam propagate before their eyes, and they inserted some websites and books full of such claimed flaws so as to disprove the Glorious Quran. They depended on some ayat that are Mutashabihat or ambiguous in meaning, and depended also on some traditions and words ascribed to Prophet Mohammed, that are not certainly authentic

To the reader, who do not know Arabic: I tell him: this is a dirty lie; because nothing is said in the Quran that the sun is a flat disc
But these atheists lie to themselves before lying to others; they go to the ayat that are obscure: Mutashabihat, the meaning of which none knows, even Muslims themselves, then they give it a distorted misinterpretation and take it as a pretext to disprove the Quran, according to their claim

So now this is the meaning of the aya
    81:1
The reason for revealing the following ayat
[Some associaters and idolaters asked about Doomsday when it will be, so God – be glorified – said in reply to their question:]
    {81: 1. When the sun shall be 'divided into many spheres'. a}
    .................................................. .................
a At that time, Doomsday will take place
Because when the life of the sun will end, and its surface will cool down, then it will have a cold earthy crust which will prevent the emergence of the gases out of its core, but then when the gases will increase in its core and will be imprisoned inside it, then the sun will burst and will be cut up to become nineteen pieces, which will be drawn by the gravity of the sun nearest to them, which is called Saqar, and they will circle around it as do the planets circle around our present sun
In this way, a new solar system, else than our present solar system, will be formed. The indication of this is His saying – be glorified – in the Quran 14: 48, which means
(On the day [of Doom] when the earth shall be exchanged by another earth, and the [gaseous] heavens too [shall be exchanged by other gaseous heavens]; and [all] shall come forth unto God, the One, the Subduer)

The interpretation is by Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly

Corn has Seven Ears, Each with a Hundred Grains
A corn plant generally has only one or two ears and an ear has up to 600 grains

The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and each ear Hath a hundred grains
    Qur'an 2:261

    Answer
I will reply to this, and I am surprised of the ignorance of such atheists, so that they rush to say things about the Glorious Quran, without true knowledge; and this one is a very good example of this

Anyone has only a simple knowledge about wheat, he knows also that the one stock or stem of the wheat plant may branch and its branches may bear seven ears or less

Moreover, the parable intended to explain that the reward of doing a good work and charity will be 700 folds or more in the Next Life
