A comment of the temperature on Mars surface
Not all the surface of Mars is frozen; some parts of Mars like the equatorial regions may be hot or temperate.
Therefore, don't surprise to find the temperature on the arm of Curiosity warmer than expected because of a presumptive information that the temperature on the entire surface of Mars is freezing.
But the truth is not like this; no, it is temperate in some parts and hot in others like on Earth.
The reason for
the hot and temperate temperature on some regions of Mars:
1- Mars has a different axis inclination than that of Earth, and this will moderated the temperature on Mars surface.
2- the day of Mars is longer than the day of Earth and this will give more exposure to the sun rays and sun heat, then it will not lose it so rapidly at night but will retain some of that heat.

" Curiosity skipped arm testing on Sol 31 (Sept. 6) after controllers held back on new commanding due to a caution about a temperature reading on the arm."
The indication of that not all the surface of Mars is freezing:
1- The ice is restricted to the two poles and to the tops of some high mountains.
2- the other processes like cloud formation and dust storms are like those on earth.
