There is a large number of Near Earth Objects
According to the American NEO-WISE studies,
there are 981 NEAs larger than 1 km and 20,500 NEAs larger than 100 m.
Some said this is only about 25% of the total number of these NEOs.

The question is:
do these objects orbit around the earth?
See the comments # 10-13 in the above link:
1- It cannot orbit around the sun.
2- Either it orbits around the earth, and its orbit may be regular or irregular according to is shape.
3- Or it moves along: wandering without aim or goal.
I see the #2 more fitting.

The explanation:
It (( because of its small size)) cannot orbit around the sun: if it orbitted around the sun, it would be very close to the sun, and could not come near the earth.
The small object orbit near the sun, and the bigger the object is the farthest it will be from the sun.
